The Tipping Point: The New Northeast Monsoon Effects in the Age of Global Climate Chaos

Boats Safe No More

Boats parked at jetty rocks. Flags waving were blown by strong wind. Boat businesses are closed or operate minimally.


Global climate change has probably altered our Northeast Monsoon behavior. Nowadays the monsoon seems to bring heavier rainfall, stronger winds and alarming flooding; lasting from November to March. Bernama (January 2025) reported that coastal erosion in Terengganu affects over 244 kilometers of coastline. The state government has taken some preventive measures. However more public awareness enforcement needed to ensure safety for the communities. The only way to solve this massive conundrum is by working together. We can make our coastline safer and beautiful for the tourism industry and future generations.



Lack of Public Awareness

The public lacks awareness of monsoon dangers. Drivers park irresponsibly. Rising tides can pull vehicles into seawater.


Mini Barrier Saves Lives
The coastline eroded. Those huge rocks break the big waves; a barrier between seawater and the main road.


Safety and Prevention
Severe road damage along Teluk Ketapang Coastline. There should be more warning signboards and blockades to prevent accidents.
